National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is a celebration of the crucial role telecommunicators play in protecting the safety and security of the American public. Every day, thousands of telecommunicators around the country answer hundreds of thousands of calls from individuals in their time of greatest need. In a majority of cases, telecommunicators make the difference between triumph and tragedy for the person on the other end of the line. Remarkably, this story of heroism doesn’t end with a hang up. In countless cases, telecommunicators have gone above and beyond the call to make a difference in the lives of people they serve, such as checking in on someone who called after a fall, or following up on a domestic abuse case.
