2014 was good year for NASCIO…. and for NASCIO’s State Mobile
Apps Catalog! From its inception in May 2013, our catalog has
since doubled in size. What began
as an initiative from Past President Brenda Decker (Nebraska CIO) and discussions with State CIOs, it's now a valuable state government resource that's driven by member contributions. The apps are diverse, creative and innovative. They demonstrate the possibilities of broader citizen-connected government. Mobile government isn't the future...it's today!
NASCIO’s
current catalog hosts descriptions on over 320 state mobile apps, with more apps being
added constantly by both our NASCIO team and developers themselves. The
apps collected are created by state government or in conjunction with state
agencies to provide information to the public and ease the delivery of state
services. In addition, this clearinghouse of smart-phone and
tablet-friendly apps gives states a convenient way to see and inspire
innovation.
With collaboration and
mobility both ranked on NASCIO’s 2015 Top 10 State CIO Priorities,
this catalog promotes the needs and wants of future state government. We
look forward to the continual growth of the catalog and encourage states to
keep the apps coming! Watch for our mobile apps catalog campaign next week.
