Radio systems increased in popularity throughout March, with numerous localities planning projects involving the purchase of radio systems and consultants. Fulton County, Ga., released a request for proposals (RFP) for a radio consultant, and Chapel Hill, N.C., released one for a radio system. As the narrowbanding deadline draws near, March also saw an increase in awarded projects, which is likely to continue through the next few months. In Missouri, the city of Blue Springs awarded a contract to Motorola for a new radio system, as did St. Charles County. In New York, Livingston County moved one step closer to reaching its own narrowbanding deadline by awarding its radio communications consulting project to Intertech Associates.
