In November 2011, Washington Governor Chris Gregoire released her proposed supplemental budget for FY 2012 to 2013. During the State of the State Address in January 2012, she spoke of the state’s budget loss and called for action to approve a temporary, half-cent sales tax increase, enact a series of reforms to improve Washington’s education system, and move forward with a major jobs and transportation package. In Gregoire’s proposed budget, she seeks to tackle top priorities while addressing another revenue shortfall.
