Deltek Analyst Joanna Salini reports.

The Wisconsin Interoperable System for Communications (WISCOM) went live this week, allowing emergency responders to communicate across jurisdictions. The robust, P25-trunked system backbone is provided by EF Johnson Technologies under a $13 million contract in place through the latter half of 2014.

The city of Fond du Lac and the counties of Iowa, Sawyer, Taylor, Kewaunee and Douglass are the first localities to partake in the system, and approximately 250 agencies across the state (95 percent) have registered with the program. The state hopes other localities and agencies will continue to join now that the system has launched.
