Yesterday evening, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Senate amended version of the 3% tax withholding (H.R. 674) by a vote of 422 to 0. With this House vote, we have overcome the final hurdle in Congress. The bill now goes to the White House for the President’s signature!
We are grateful to Congressmen Wally Herger and Earl Blumenauer and Senators Scott Brown and David Vitter for spearheading the legislative effort as well as Chairman Dave Camp and Ranking Member Sander Levin for their efforts in Committee, and Speaker John Boehner, Leader Eric Cantor and Whip Kevin McCarthy for putting the 3% repeal on the House’s ‘to do’ list and Leader Mitch McConnell for pushing it in the Senate.
Without your persistent advocacy, we would not have reached this point. Many thanks to each of you for everything you have done to encourage Congress to approve full repeal of 3% withholding. This was one of NASCIO's top advocacy goals for 2011.
