NSTIC gets $16.5 million

Monday, November 21, 2011

The National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace has received its $16.5 million in funding for the 2012 fiscal year, says Jeremy Grant, senior executive advisor of ID management at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

President Obama signed H.R. 2112 into law which provides full-year appropriations through September 30, 2012, for the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Health and Human Services’, Food and Drug Administration, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Transportation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation and other small agencies.

Since the national strategy is under the NIST, which is under the Department of Commerce, the program has been full funded. Previously, Grant said that the funding would go toward pilot program and potential use cases for how the national strategy will work.
