Here's our latest Weekly Washington Headlines And Tech Blog info to help you wind down your work-week! Key Takeaway:

Administration Report Concludes No Additional Cybersecurity Regs Needed A report by the Obama administration concluded no further development of cybersecurity regulations are necessary at this time. Under the Executive Order Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity (EO 13636), the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, and the Environmental Protection Agency were required to review if additional regulations were necessary for a range of industries and activities under their jurisdiction. The report concludes that voluntary programs such as the cybersecurity framework, and information sharing partnership are providing the necessary protections.  Independent agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commission or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, are not covered by the report.  More from the White House here.

Other Buzz:
FirstNet Chairmanship Shifts from Ginn to Swenson Sam Ginn, who has chaired the FirstNet Board since its inception, is stepping down from his chairmanship, and  will not seek himself from the Board when his term ends in August. Commerce Secretary Pritzker announced her appointment of board member Sue Swenson to Chair FirstNet moving forward in a press release. Swenson was a telecommunications and technology executive prior to her appointment, has served as a FirstNet Board member since August 2012 and was named Vice Chairwoman last December. With terms expiring for four FirstNet Board Members (Chairman Sam Ginn, New York City Police Deputy Chief Chuck Dowd, Storey County Iowa Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald, and Ed Reynolds), it is likely we will see some additional changes to the FirstNet Board of Directors in the Fall.

DHS Planning Regional Events Promoting C³ Voluntary Program

The Department of Homeland Security will be holding regional events throughout the nation to promote the Cybersecurity Framework and the Critical Infrastructure Cyber Community (C³) Voluntary Program to public and private stakeholders. The first event will take place June 18 in Boston, MA (details here).  Future events should be posted on the DHS website (here).
